The Center for Citizenship & Constitutional Government is proud to introduce its Spring 2026 Tocqueville Fellows. Selected through a competitive application process, the cohort is made up of 26 talented Notre Dame undergraduates.
In addition to 14 returning fellows, 12 new students are joining the fellowship this spring. They come from an incredibly diverse range of academic disciplines, including political science, PLS, economics, history, global affairs, classics, French, ACMS, business, chemical and biomedical engineering, pre-med, and biology. The students also bring a variety of ideological perspectives to the fellowship: 46 percent identify as conservative, 31 percent identify as liberal, and the rest identified themselves as undecided or simply “Catholic.” Despite their different viewpoints, what the fellows share is deep intellectual curiosity, leadership potential, and a desire to engage in serious discussion about issues of import to our public life.
This semester, the fellows will have the opportunity to meet privately with several prominent guests, including Justin Giboney (AND Campaign), Jud Campbell (Stanford Law School), Christine Emba (American Enterprise Institute), and Jed Atkins (UNC-Chapel Hill). The fellows will also participate in a weekend discussion colloquium on Against the Machine, a new book by Paul Kingsnorth, as well as other discussion-based events and social gatherings.
