James Otteson

Former Visiting Professor; Current John T. Ryan Jr. Professor of Business Ethics, University of Notre Dame

During his time as a Visiting Fellow with Constitutional Studies at Notre Dame, James Otteson was the Thomas W. Smith Presidential Chair in Business Ethics, Professor of Economics at Wake Forest University. He was also executive director of the Eudaimonia Institute. Dr. Otteson lectures widely on Adam Smith, classical liberalism, political economy, business ethics, and related issues, including for the Fund for American Studies, the Adam Smith Society, the Acton Institute, the Institute for Humane Studies, and the Tikvah Fund.

After his fellowship, in 2020, he returned to Notre Dame as the John T. Ryan Jr. Professor of Business Ethics, Rex and Alice A. Martin Faculty Director of the Notre Dame/Deloitte Center for Ethical Leadership.
