Emilia Justyna Powell

Emilia Justyna Powell is a Professor of Political Science and Concurrent Associate Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame. She has written extensively on international law, international courts, international dispute resolution, the Islamic legal tradition, and Islamic constitutionalism. Her 2020 book Islamic Law and International Law: Peaceful Resolution of Disputes (Oxford University Press) won two best book awards from the International Studies Association (ISA): International Law section and the Religion in International Relations section. Professor Powell's new book (forthcoming in Oxford University Press, coauthored with Krista E. Wiegand) is entitled The Peaceful Resolution of Territorial and Maritime Disputes.
