Funding Request Application

Through a competitive application process, we provide targeted funding to CCCG-affiliated undergraduates in order to support participation in internships, academic programs, or research projects. Applications for funding are reviewed throughout the year on a rolling basis, with the exception of summer funding requests, which must be submitted by April 7, 2027.

A successful application is detailed, expresses financial need, and effectively communicates how the project or experience:

1. Advances the applicant's academic, professional, and/or vocational endeavors; and
2. Broadly aligns with the mission of the Center for Citizenship & Constitutional Government.

Student applicants must prepare and submit the following materials with their application:

• Proposal: In the proposal, applicants should describe the opportunity for which they are requesting funding. What is its time frame? What is their role? They should also provide a convincing explanation for how this opportunity uniquely advances their academic/professional interests and how it broadly aligns with the mission of the CCCG. (750 words or less)
• Budget: The budget should include basic line items and the full dollar amount being requested. Explanations should be included as needed. Applicants should download and use this budget template for most requests and this template for internship funding requests.
• Statement of Financial Need: In this statement, the applicant should explain why they require funding from the CCCG. If they did not receive funding from the CCCG, how else might they fund this opportunity? Have they also applied for funding elsewhere (Meruelo, Beyond the Dome, Franco, their academic department, other centers/institutes, etc.)? (500 words or less)
• Current Resume/CV

Eligibility and Restrictions:

• Applicants must be current students, with an affiliation to the CCCG (i.e., Tocqueville Fellow or Constitutional Studies Minor).
• Graduating seniors may not apply for funding the summer after graduation.
• Due to Notre Dame's 501(c)3 status, the CCCG cannot provide funding for internships with political campaigns. No university funds can go toward explicitly partisan activities. See the full policy on this here.
• All international travel that is supported by CCCG funds must be registered with the University. This registration should happen before flights are purchased.
