On Wednesday, November 5, ACS will host J.P. Cooney in Eck 3140 at 12:30pm for a conversation on the politicization of the DOJ. J.P. will describe his experience working for the Department of Justice over three administrations, including both Trump administrations. As a result of his work in Jack Smith’s Special Counsel’s Office, President Trump fired him, and several others, shortly after taking office a second time. He will use his experience to discuss the differences he sees between the first and second Trump administrations. J.P. will then discuss recent resignations and indictments that have been labelled political moves, and he will lay out the consequences of adding politics to the DOJ’s decision making process. Lunch will be served.
