AEI to Host Event for CCCG Director's New Book

Author: Center for Citizenship & Constitutional Government

Religious Liberty and the Am Founding Book Cover

The American Enterprise Institute will host a conversation about CCCG Director Phillip Muñoz's new book Religious Liberty and the American Founding: Natural Rights and the Original Meanings of the First Amendment Religion Clauses (University of Chicago Press, 2022). Dr. Muñoz's book explores what the founders meant when they guaranteed the right to freedom of religion, arguing that the American founding generation understood religious liberty quite differently from current law, with policy implications that don’t square with today’s legal definitions.

AEI Nonresident Fellow and Senior Counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty William Haun will moderate a conversation between Dr. Muñoz and John Yoo, an AEI Nonresident Senior Fellow and the Emanuel Heller Professor of Law at the University of California Berkeley.

This event will be hosted at the American Enterprise Institute (1789 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington, DC 20036) on Wednesday, November 9 at 5:00pm. Guests can RSVP for in-person attendance here. The event will be livestreamed here. After the event concludes, a full video will be posted by AEI within 24 hours. More information is available on the AEI website
