Minors: Sociology; Philosophy, Politics, and Economics
Ava Warner is a rising senior majoring in Biological Sciences with minors in Sociology and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. A recipient of the Mary John Goree Las Animas County Scholarship, she is from Branson, Colorado, where she lives and works on her family’s fifth-generation cattle ranch. Her academic interests focus on the intersection of environmental sociology, agriculture, climate change, and global health, particularly how environmental stressors shape individual and community well-being. On campus, Ava serves as a coordinator for First Aid Student Volunteers and is involved with GlobeMed, BKSTR Basketball, and the Cavanaugh Hall Council. She is also a member of the TriBeta National Biological Honor Society and works as a research assistant in a psychology lab. Last fall, she studied abroad in London, contributing to climate change and mental health research with the Climate Cares team at the Institute for Global Health and Innovation at Imperial College London. This summer, Ava is working with the El Pomar Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to strengthening Colorado communities through grantmaking, leadership development, and community engagement. She hopes to pursue a career at the intersection of global health, environmental science, and public service. In her free time, Ava enjoys working on the ranch, anything outdoors, running, cooking, and throwing pottery.
